Established in 2002, Kurinji Super Specialities Hospital began as a dedicated orthopaedic care centre under the leadership of Dr. T. Jayaraman, MS Ortho, a veteran in the field with over five decades of experience. Over the years, the hospital expanded its services across multiple disciplines, earning the trust of thousands of patients through ethical practice, skilled professionals and state-of-the-art facilities.

Today, Kurinji stands as a 100+ bed multi-speciality hospital, empanelled under the Tamil Nadu Government Health Scheme and also with all major private insurance companies, catering to patients from across Salem district and beyond.

Legacy of Dr. T. Jayaraman

The late Dr. T. Jayaraman (1948–2025) was a pioneer in Orthopaedics and Trauma Care in Tamil Nadu. An alumnus of Madras Medical College, he served in the Government Medical Services for over 16 years before becoming a full-time healthcare entrepreneur. His vision led to the formation of Gokulam Hospital (1988–1996) and later, Kurinji Hospital in 2002.

Known for his commitment to ethical medicine, continuous learning and compassion, Dr. Jayaraman also served as Principal of Annai Theressa Institute of Paramedical Sciences, shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals. His legacy continues to inspire the values and mission of the hospital today.

TJ Robotic Arthroplasty Centre (TJ RAC)

In line with Dr. Jayaraman’s forward-thinking vision, Kurinji Hospital proudly inaugurated the TJ Robotic Arthroplasty Centre (TJ RAC) on 10th May 2025. The centre is equipped with the latest robotic surgical systems for precision-driven joint replacement procedures.

TJ RAC is designed to:

Our Journey

Founded in 2002 by (Late) Dr. T. Jayaraman, MS (Ortho), Kurinji Super Specialities Hospital began as a dedicated Orthopaedic Centre in Salem. Over time, it has grown into a 100+ bed multi-speciality hospital known for ethical practice, advanced treatment and patient-centred care.

Kurinji offers a wide range of specialties including Orthopaedics, Spine & Neuro Surgery, General Medicine, Cardiology, Nephrology, Urology, Plastic Surgery and Emergency Medicine.

A key milestone was the inauguration of the TJ Robotic Arthroplasty Centre (TJ RAC), Salem’s First centre for precision-driven robotic joint replacement.

Further extending post-surgical care, Kurinji Bloom Transitional Care Centre provides specialized recovery and rehabilitation support for patients after major surgeries and orthopaedic procedures.

Empanelled under the Tamil Nadu Government Health Scheme and all major private insurance companies, Kurinji continues to uphold Dr. Jayaraman’s legacy – delivering trusted, affordable, and compassionate healthcare.

Our Milestones

1981 - Polytrauma Care

Dr.T.Jayaraman introduced A.O. Trauma Surgery for the first time in Salem and surrounding districts.

1982 - Spine Care

Dr.T.Jayaraman Performed the first Spine Surgery in Salem.

1990 - Knee Replacement

First to perform Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement surgeries in Salem.

2002 - Foundation

Kurinji Hospital established by (Late) Dr. T. Jayaraman, MS (Ortho) as a dedicated Orthopaedic Centre in Salem.

2006 - Expansion

Expanded into a Multi-Speciality Hospital with additional departments including General Medicine, Cardiology, and Surgical Care.

2012 - Diagnostic Excellence

Introduced Advanced Diagnostics with CT Scan, EEG, EMG, and a fully automated laboratory.

2016

  • Successfully performed Salem's first Partial Knee Replacement Surgery.
  • Honoured by the Indian Arthroplasty Association for a study on joint pain management in rural populations
  • Added Modular OTs, ICU, and 24x7 Casualty & Blood Bank, enhancing emergency and surgical care.

2019

Launched enhanced Critical Care and Specialty Services, strengthening patient support systems.

2020-2021 - COVID-19 Care

Provided vital treatment and critical care support to numerous patients during the pandemic.

2025 - Transitional & Robotic Care

  • Established Kurinji Bloom Transitional Care Centre for post-surgical recovery and rehabilitation.
  • Inaugurated TJ Robotic Arthroplasty Centre (TJ RAC) and performed Salem's first Partial Knee Replacement Robotic Surgery, marking a new era in precision orthopaedic care.
